Join the Fight – LUNG FORCE Boston Walk on May 11th
Did you know that lung cancer is the #1 cause of cancer deaths among women? Right now in the U.S., over 400,000 people have, at some point throughout their lives, been diagnosed with lung cancer.
In fact, lung cancer is affecting women of all ages, races and ethnicities. Unfortunately, many women don’t think about the risks of lung cancer until it is too late. Anyone with lungs can get lung cancer, even nonsmokers. Radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer for nonsmokers and the #2 overall, claiming approximately 21,000 lives every year. Smokers exposed to radon have an increased risk of lung cancer.
Fact: Over 158,000 people are estimated to have died from lung cancer in 2016 alone. Lung cancer deaths are 27% of all cancer deaths (more than prostate, breast, etc.).
How Does the LUNG FORCE Walk Help?
On May 11th, join the LUNG FORCE Walk to spread awareness and raise money to help those who have been affected by lung cancer as well as other lung diseases. This Walk includes interactive education areas, games and activities, as well as inspirational stories.
All money raised will help support research, advocacy, education and awareness for people whose lives have been affected by lung disease. Every dollar counts! Money raised will significantly help researchers so that they can develop earlier detection methods, treatments and cures.
Where Does the Event Take Place?
This event will be a 2.5 mile walk around Boston Common, starting at 139 Tremont Street. Bring your kids as there will be plenty of delicious food and a Kid’s Corner. Don’t forget your dog! Visit your friends at RadonAway in the Mission Tent to learn more about the risks of radon and how easy it is to test and treat your home to keep your family safe.
